“Testing, 1, 2…” – my familiar line since 2016 at Feast PICC.
But here’s the plot twist: two microphones, two completely different sides of me.
The first mic? It’s my introvert’s dream come true.
Since 2016, I’ve been one of the voices behind the scenes – present but unseen. I announce events for the community to enhance their Feast experience.
Just my voice floating through the air, serving in comfortable anonymity.
I love it. People don’t know me.
Then came the pandemic.
Suddenly, I’m a Live Engager, warming up our audience before Mass, worship, and talks for those joining online.
Camera on, fully visible, chatting away.
Suddenly, people know me. It’s alright in a way.
It’s been a more than a year since I came back serving onsite in PICC.
I’ve kept both roles.
One mic lets me hide, the other puts me in the spotlight.
My introvert and extrovert selves taking turns at the helm.
Sounds contradictory, right?
But then, one of our Feast elders dropped this wisdom, “Whichever microphone you’re using, you’re serving the Lord. Use them well.”
Two micrphones, one purpose.
Mic check: Sometimes the best service happens when we embrace all parts of ourselves – seen and unseen.
Hey… is this thing still on?
