“I am scared. Isn’t that rate for working on a Thrive Themes website too high?”, one of our #SuccessSquad members told me during our one-on-one coaching session.

Thrive Themes is a WordPress paid theme that only a handful know (until now). She’s one of them.

Before our member said this, she showed me a job description on UpWork (a freelancing site). The job wants a website done via Thrive Themes plus email integrations and tracking pixels.

All for a fixed price of $80.00. That’s four thousand pesos.

Good thing our Squad member did not apply to this job. But she’s still scared of charging high.

I went to UpWork and searched for Thrive Themes. My research gave me only three experts. One of them was charging $100.00 per hour.

To add, one of them already earned a total of $62,000.00 for creating websites using Thrive Themes. That’s more than three million pesos.

One of the three started at $35.00 per hour rate, eventually leading to the $100.00 per hour now.

“So tell me, which is scarier: the $80.00 fixed rate or the $100.00 per hour?”, I said.

I have been in this situation many times before. I’ve been scared to charge high as if the ground would shake, open, and eat me alive.

But I am more scared of going back to the corporate world, saying yes to things that I don’t like doing, and be surrounded by office politics.

So I worked my way on being good on my skills and becoming better in marketing myself.

I got mentors to guide me on the right way of doing freelancing.

I met people who are going through the same journey as mine.

Here’s what I realized: there are people who are willing to give value on what you do. You just have to have the right mindset, attitude, and the people.
